Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy Parry Guide: Timing, Counters & Kills
Updated
Parry yellow attacks, dodge red attacks. Resonance's combat rewards timing: yellow attacks can be parried for an instant stun, red attacks are unblockable and must be dodged, and ordinary attacks can simply be blocked. Break a guard with a kick, then finish staggered enemies with a Critical Strike.
How the attack colours work
- Yellow — parryable. Land the parry at the right moment to instantly stun the attacker.
- Red — unblockable. You cannot parry or block it, so dodge out of the way.
- Regular — can be blocked normally.
- Kick — breaks an enemy's defensive stance; use it on enemies who turtle up.
- Stagger + Critical Strike — attacks build stagger, and once a guard breaks you finish with a Critical Strike.
Parry timing and counters
- Build the stagger meter first, then commit to big swings only when the enemy's guard is broken.
- Reading the yellow tell is the single most important combat skill — parry it to control the fight.
- Chaining 6 successful parries in a row unlocks the Untouchable achievement/trophy — the full list is in the achievements guide.
- The Echo's Return dodge skill can throw an enemy into others; stun 3 enemies at once for Skilled maneuverer.
Advanced combat tips
- Parry-heavy combat stretches your runtime on higher difficulties — expect longer, more punishing fights.
- Late-game reanimated enemies must be fully staggered, then finished with a Critical Strike before being burned in light.
- Resonance Points are refundable outside combat — respec freely before bosses or a hard encounter.
